About Soya Bean Curry
Soya Beans Curry is made using soya bean, onion, spices, herbs and freshly grind masala. This is a simple, flavorful dry curry and is very helpful when there is no vegetables in stock or no time.
I always make sure that my pantry is stocked with these dried beans variety either soya, double beans, chana or peas. This is undoubtedly a healthy and a tasty curry goes a great side dish for rice and roti.

Soya Bean Curry Ingredients
- Soya Bean – I use white dried variety soya bean. Soak it overnight then pressure cook and use it.
- Onion – Onion is sautéed after the tempering items are added.
- Tempering – Oil is heated, mustard, curry leaves and cumin seeds are spluttered in preheated oil.
- Masala paste – Coconut along with coriander seeds, red chili, ginger and garlic are roasted and grind to a masala paste.
- Spice powders – Turmeric powder and sambar powders are added.
How to make Soya Bean Curry
- Soak soya bean over night. Drain the water next day and pressure cook with salt, turmeric powder and required water for 2-3 whistles or until the soya bean is soft.
- First grind the ingredients under to grind to a coarse paste and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds allow it to crackle then add curry leaves. Now add onions and fry till slightly browned.
- Then add the ground paste, fry till raw smell leaves and it becomes browned and nicely roasted. At this stage add the cooked soya bean and mix well.
- Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the curry blends well with the soya bean. Switch off.
Expert Tips
- Adding sambar powder is purely optional.
- When the soya gets cooked, the skin of the soya slightly comes out it is ok.
- You get soya bean in most of the super markets.
- Though we get fresh ones only during seasons you can make use of the dried ones.
Serving and Storage
Soya Bean Curry can be served with rice, roti etc. This curry keeps well in fridge for 2 days, reheat and serve it.

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup dried soya bean

- 1/4 teaspoon sambar powder optional
