Double Beans Curry is a buttery, tasty side dish made by grinding coconut & spices to a paste and tempered with cooked double beans &onions. Double Beans Curry is a great side dish for rice meal that the family will crave for more and can be relished as fillers for rolls too.
Double Beans Curry is one of my favorite recipes which amma makes.This masala base can be used for a variety of recipes with different combination of vegetables or pulses and it is a winner.This Double Beans Curry makes a great side for rice.
I buy double beans on and off so want to try different recipes with it.I also love biryani which I will be posting soon.

Double Beans Curry
Ingredients
- 1 cup double beans
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- water as needed
- salt to taste
To grind to a paste:
- 2 tablespoon coconut
- 2 teaspoon fennel seeds
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 2 nos red chillies
To temper:
- 1/2 inch cinnamon
- 2 nos cloves
- 1 no cardamom
- a small sprig curry leaves
Instructions
- Soak double beans overnight. Transfer to a pressure cooker.
- Add water (till immersing level) and turmeric powder. Pressure cook for 3 whistles in low medium flame, set aside.
- Take coconut in a mixer jar. Add pepper, fennel seeds and red chillies. Add little water to it. Grind it to a coarse paste, set aside.
- Heat oil in a pan - add items listed under 'to temper'. Add onions and garlic.
- Sauté till transparent. Add required salt. Add coconut paste.
- Add water and cook until raw smell leaves, it will takes at least 10 mins in low flame.
- Strain water and add cooked beans. Toss and cook until it turns reddish brown. Drizzle oil if it sticks.
- Serve Double Beans Curry hot with rice!
How to make Double Beans Curry
