About Mango Frooti
Mango Frooti is a tangy mango drink available in stores in small tetra packs which was very popular in the 80’s. These days I try to avoid store bought juices as they are loaded with sugar, preservatives and additives so make them at home and enjoy.
This Mango Frooti is a recreation of the popular drink which comes very close in taste. Homemade Mango Frooti is healthier and more tastier as its all natural ingredients and as I always say you know exactly what goes into the making.
I love frooti, slice, maaza and all such mango drinks and amma loves it too as she doesn’t like aerated drinks. So when I made this frooti at home, she was so happy and gave a thumbs up.

Expert Tips
- I used alphonso mangoes and recommend using the same as it gives the best taste for this drink. If you don’t get alphonso then use any fiber less juicy mangoes.
- After straining if its too thick add little more water but only if needed. Adjust according to the consistency.
- You can even add sugar while cooking the mangoes itself. But amma says making sugar increases shelf life so tried it this way though it got over in a day so couldn’t test it.
- Lemon juice acts as a natural preservative but add very little.
- You can alternatively pressure cook for 3 whistles then proceed with the remaining steps too.
Serving & Storage
Chill the drink and serve it fresh. I would not suggest adding ice cubes as it may thin down the drink. This keeps well in room temperature only for 6-hours maximum and in fridge for a week to 10 days.
