I wanted to try a pasta recipe with mushrooms for a long time, say ever since I started cooking pasta at home. Finally gave a try few weeks back and should say mushroom with pasta is such a delicious combination, sure a match made in heaven!

About Mushroom Pasta
Mushroom Pasta is a creamy and delicious pasta that is filling and wholesome too. This is not a perfect white sauce recipe, its just my attempt to create a low fat version of white sauce. I loved the mild sauce coating on the pasta with the crunch from mushroom and capsicum, it was light on my tummy – happy me!
This pasta won hands down as it was liked by all. This is another recipe to include mushroom in other forms that mittu would love to eat. Do try this easy and quick mushroom pasta and enjoy!

Mushroom Pasta Ingredients
- Pasta – I have used Penne variety pasta but you can use even fusilli or macaroni pasta too. You can even use durum wheat pasta or regular white pasta as per your choice.
- Vegetables – Onion, capsicum along with mushrooms is used.
- Mushrooms – I have used button mushroom which is best to use.
- Butter – I used homemade butter. Use fresh butter you can even use store bought butter.
- Flour – You can use wheat flour or maida.
- Milk – Use boiled warm milk, preferably full fat milk.
- Herbs & Spices – Oregano, chili flakes is used here.
- Cheese – Grated cheese is used for creaminess.

How to make Mushroom Pasta Step by Step
1.Boil water with 1/2 teaspoon of oil and little salt, add the pasta and cook till soft not too mushy. Drain water and set aside. Heat butter in a pan.

2.Add chopped garlic and sauté till golden brown then add capsicum and mushroom, sauté for 3 minutes until mushroom gets cooked. Then add maida, sauté for a minute.

3.Then add milk and keep stirring continuously till it coats the ladle as shown in the pic. Add oregano.

4.Now add the cooked pasta and give a quick stir then add pepper powder, give a quick toss and switch off.

Serve hot with cheese!

Expert Tips
- Adding capsicum is optional , you can replace it any other veggies of your choice.
- Serve immediately as it the sauce may get dry soon. If it gets dry, you can add little more milk, heat it up and then serve.
- You can use any pasta variety for this recipe, I had macaroni so used it.
- You can also use color capsicum for a more colorful looking pasta.
- Mushroom cooks faster so just sauté for 2-3 minutes until color changes don’t make it too soft, it should be crunchy enough to bite.
- Add more cheese as preferred especially if its for kids be generous.
Serving and Storage
Serve it hot with toasted bread, it tastes great on its own too. This keeps well in fridge for 2 days. If storing in fridge next day add little boiled milk, heat it up to make it thin before serving.

I do the similar way,but make a paste of Maida and add at last.akka if we add as a powder will it not get burnt?

Cheese is just for garnishing, I used amul cheese cubes.You can use any cheese in grated form.
