Pumpkin Pasta is made using pasta of your choice along with pumpkin puree, garlic, onion, cream and cheese. This pumpkin pasta can be made quickly within 30 minutes and perfect for dinner.
Hot creamy pumpkin pasta with parmesan cheese is like a warm hug in a bowl. I like my pasta creamy so this is perfect. This is a one pot pasta dish that you can stir in quickly and easily.

- Pasta – I have used rigatoni pasta here which absorbs the sauce well. You can use any pasta of your choice.
- Pumpkin Puree – You can use store bought pumpkin puree or use home made puree. Oven roasted pumpkin puree tastes great.
- Garlic, Onion – Finely chopped garlic and onion are sautéed.
- Herbs & spices – Rosemary, red chili flakes, pepper powder and nutmeg powders are used.
- Cheese – Parmesan cheese tastes best with this pasta. However you can use grated cheese cubes too.
- Olive oil – Olive oil gives a great flavor to this pasta. How ever you can use regular cooking oil too.
How to make Pumpkin Pasta Step by Step
- To a large pot add 4 cups of water along with salt to taste.
2.Once water starts to boil, add 200 grams rigatoni pasta(1 heaped cup pasta). You can use other pasta varieties of your choice too.
3.Give a quick mix.
4.Let it cook in medium flame, give a stir in between to avoid sticking at the bottom.
5.Cook until fork tender.
6.Reserve 1/2 cup pasta cooked water.
7.Transfer to a strainer. Rinse it with water to avoid further cooking.
8.Heat 1 tablespoon oil add 1 tablespoon garlic and sauté until golden.
9.Add 1/2 cup finely chopped onion, sauté until onions turn transparent.
10.Add 1 cup pumpkin puree, salt to taste and reserved 1/2 cup pasta cooked water.
11.Give a quick mix and let the sauce boil for 2 minutes.
12.Add 1 teaspoon red chili flakes, 1/2 teaspoon rosemary, 1/4 teaspoon pepper powder and 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg powder.
13.Add 2 tablespoon parmesan cheese, 1/4 cup cream.
14.Mix it well. Creamy pumpkin sauce is ready!
15.Add cooked pasta.
16.Mix it well. Add little of pasta cooked water if it turns dry.
Serve hot with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese, chili flakes and rosemary!
