Sesame Seeds powder is a flavorful chutney powder made with sesame seeds. Ellu Podi or ellu milagai podi as we call in tamil is a very good sidedish or idli,dosa and rice.
This Sesame Seeds chutney powder is can be mixed with gingelly oil which makes it a great sidedish for idli and dosa.

Ellu Podi | Sesame Powder
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup urad dal
- 3/4 cup sesame seeds
- 1/4 cup chana dal
- 6 nos red chillies
- 2 nos kashmiri chilli
- a sprig curry leaves
- 1 pinch hing
- salt to taste
Instructions
- Dry roast urad dal till golden brown, set aside. Now add chana dal and red chillies.
- Roast till its golden brown in color, set aside. Now add sesame seeds and roast till it pops up and is golden. Set aside.
- Add curry leaves and roast until its crisp. Cool down the ingredients completely then transfer to a mixer jar. Add required salt.
- Add hing and grind to a slightly coarse mixture.
- Cool down then store Ellu Podi in a dry airtight container.
Notes
- You can even use black sesame seeds replacing white.
