Frozen Yogurt Recipe

Frozen Yogurt is a creamy and melt in the mouth dessert made using hung curd and powdered sugar as main ingredients with different flavorings. Frozen Yogurt also called as Froyo is a healthy alternate to ice cream and can be made at home with easily with available ingredients. Learn to make perfect, creamy and smooth Frozen Yogurt.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups hung curd
  • 2 medium sized mangoes roughly comes to 1 cup
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh lime juice optional
  • 2 tablespoon nuts chopped just for garnishing I used pistachios

Instructions

  • Puree the mangoes, add lemon juice and 1/2 cup of hung curd to a blender.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the remaining hung curd and sugar till sugar dissolves completely.
  • Combine the mango mixture with yogurt sugar mixture together and mix well.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours. Then take it and blend the mixture again until soft. Then refrigerate for 2 hours, then break the crystals and blend it again until soft. The more beating results in a smoother and creamier froyo.
  • Then freeze again for 30 minutes and repeat the process. Repeat a couple of times until the froyo becomes creamy and soft. For the last time alone, do not freeze it, just refrigerate it for best creamy results. Garnish with chopped nuts.

Notes

  • Hang the curd for at least an hour until all the excess water drips out. If your hung curd has water then the froyo when frozen will have crystals and will not be creamy.
  • Adjust sugar according to the sweetness of the mangoes.
  • You can even use strawberries or blueberries as an alternate.
